The museum will be featuring our EVERYDAY PEOPLE EXHIBIT: Miami Soul Basel Edition. This exhibit highlights the everyday representation of simply BEing and adds to the conversation around BEing part of the Black diaspora.


The EVERYDAY PEOPLE EXHIBIT is One exhibit showcased in THREE locations. Please note that there will be walking involved to be able to experience the fullness of the exhibit. 1 block walk.


About the host:

In September of 1944, the Miami Police Department began hiring black police officers. In May of 1950, a police precinct was established at 480 NW 11 Street to provide a station house for African American policemen and a courtroom for African American judges in which to adjudicate African American defendants.
